“Memorable Dates for Christian Rationalists”

A significant part of the Christian Rationalist community meets in person once again to celebrate the anniversary of the World Headquarters of Christian Rationalism which, exactly 67 years ago, on October 20, 1956, was inaugurated with the creator, encourager and leader of the construction of this monument to freedom, also the consolidator of the Christian Rationalist philosophy and its then president, Antonio Cottas, and, next to him, vice-president Roberto Dias Lopes, who had the great mission of heading the commission in charge of carrying out the civil engineering works.

It all began on January 26, 1910 with the founding of Christian Rationalism by Luiz de Mattos, also the author of the Christian Rationalist philosophy, with co-founder Luiz Thomaz at his side, who offered to build, among other Houses, the former world headquarters, before known as the Head-House, today the Luiz de Mattos Manor.

From a free thinker, Luiz de Mattos became a convinced spiritualist after extensive study of the human, social and natural sciences, with special attention to medical sciences and literature in general, notably from philosophers of antiquity to contemporary times, and, in particular, to the spiritist doctrines so in evidence at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th, bequeathing to humanity Christian Rationalism, a spiritualist philosophy that is innovative and liberates people trapped in dogmas, beliefs and fanaticisms, while Luiz Thomaz, financier par excellence and economic by nature, provided broad and consistent material support for the establishment and sustainment of Christian Rationalism’s philosophy of life, as it brings together standards of conduct for conscious, balanced and harmonious living.

Several struggles were faced and won over time by these four leaders of Christian Rationalism. None of them were discouraged by the difficulties they went through, as they knew that everything related to our spiritualist philosophy on the physical plane is the result of planning carried out on the astral plane long before its foundation and the opening of the first Christian Rationalist house.

What did Luiz de Mattos, Luiz Thomaz, Antonio Cottas and Roberto Dias Lopes want? Social projection, financial gain, international fame? Of course not! The objective was to strengthen, enlighten and spiritualize human beings, so that they could make better use of their existence, since they are all evolving spirits in possession of a physical body in multiple experiences on Earth.

By understanding the influence of evolutionary laws on the reality of life, people would have a more pleasant life, they would know how to conduct themselves in everyday life, avoiding unnecessary suffering, such as those resulting from the psychic imbalances of many people disillusioned even by official psychiatry, but recovered by the method of psychic normalization created by Luiz de Mattos and put into practice in Christian Rationalist houses.

Since that time, Christian Rationalism has continued, and will always continue, the task of strengthening, enlightening and spiritualizing humanity, since this is the path that everyone can follow and that leads to freedom of thought and action, of having lucid reasoning to make good decisions, of making good use of free will aimed at doing good, as well as enjoying the happiness resulting from fulfilled duties.

Among the most recent struggles, we remember the pandemic, which forced the closure of Christian Rationalist houses due to the social isolation recommended by the health authorities globally. It was a very difficult experience, without equal precedent, but faced with valor and courage by the president of Christian Rationalism, who innovated by creating forms of spiritualist activities carried out remotely, whether public meetings and study groups at the World Headquarters, personalized services or specific programs, such as Conversation with the President, all carried out with the use of available digital technology resources, the fundamental support of spiritualist militants and the progressive participation of more attendees, increasing the dissemination of Christian Rationalism around the world.

During the 20-month period in which the Christian Rationalist houses were unable to fully carry out their in-person spiritualist activities, the president of Christian Rationalism, directors of the world headquarters and of branches and correspondent houses also periodically met virtually, when they then came up with ideas and suggestions related to how to impart and practice Christian Rationalism, to its dissemination through the use of its own social media and the updating of its terminology.

These valuable studies and their precise conclusions served as the basis for writing the final text of the 46th edition of the book Christian Rationalism, making it more modern, innovative and accessible to the understanding of readers, regardless of their level of education and knowledge about spirituality.

This literary work becomes, after its launch as part of the festivities of yet another anniversary of the founding of the world headquarters, a mandatory reading for people who want to know the authentic spirituality bequeathed by its author to humanity, because, despite being updated, it preserves the immutable concepts and philosophical and disciplinary principles established by the great spiritualist and humanist master Luiz de Mattos.

Therefore, we invite everyone to study the spirituality defended by Christian Rationalism and disseminated, as well as practiced, in Christian Rationalist houses both physical and virtual, as this is how we consider its own social media. Our Houses open their doors to welcome and strengthen the valued attendees of face-to-face public meetings, in the same way that the virtual public meetings of Christian Rationalism held by the world headquarters enlighten the people who participate in them with their questions and doubts, very well answered based on Christian Rationalist philosophy by the advisors in the exercise of their presidency, so that the sufferings so frequent in this world be faced and overcome by the strength that everyone has within themselves when using their attributes and spiritual faculties appropriately, finding the happiness they seek so much during their lives.
